1. What is your “Distance”, “Near” or “Intermediate” prescription?
For distance glasses choose the “Distance” line on our spectacle ordering form. For intermediate type “Distance” prescription in and then type in the intermediate ADD into the box provided. For reading glasses you type in the “Distance” prescription followed by the reading ADD POWER in the box provided.
If you need any advice about which line is appropriate, please ask your optician at the time of the eye test.

2. What is my Pupillary Distance and how do I obtain it?
The pupil distance is a measurement from the centre of the right pupil (black spot) to the centre of the left pupil. This measurement helps in centring the lenses correctly. This can be provided by your optician. Alternatively you can choose to use an average pupil distance, which is provided by our dispensing opticians. You can also use our online measuring guide to get the measurement.

1. What material are the glasses lenses made from?
The glasses lenses are made from light and safe CR39 (Colombo Resin) plastic lenses. We use a high index (1.6) for thinner lenses. We do not use glass lenses. You can order scratch resistant (but not scratch proof) lenses to help protect the surfaces of the lenses.

2. Do we sell tinted or transition (plastic lenses that react to light to go dark in bright sunlight)?
We sell a light tint in grey or brown. The depths of tints are light 80% transmission, medium 50% transmission and dark 30% transmission.
We also sell transition lenses which go dark when exposed to UV light. These have a UV filter which protects the eye but not to direct sunlight.

3. Do we sell anti -reflection coatings or hard coats?
We sell anti-reflection coatings .These reduce reflections and are particularly useful for driving at night or working under artificial lighting conditions.
We sell hard coats. These provide a hard outer coat for the lens but are not scratch proof.
